I have the lived experience of healing from severe opioid and stimulant use disorder, anxiety, depression, and complex trauma. Recovery started for me with people who loved me unconditionally, and continued when I learned to love myself. There is no room for shame or judgment in my practice — you will always be treated as the expert on your own experience.
I've spent 20 years on the front lines of the substance use and mental health crisis. My background includes founding CAYA Clinic, serving as Clinical Director of ARC Community Services, Executive Director of Stop Heroin Now, Wisconsin State Lead for the Recovery Advocacy Project, a therapist at Open Door Center for Change, Director of Drug Poisoning Prevention at Safe Communities, and Assistant Director of Connections Counseling. I'm also a national trainer with the Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Network, specializing in SBIRT and peer recovery services for pregnant and parenting families.
I chaired SCAODA's Ad Hoc Committee on 911 Good Samaritan Legislation, co-produced the documentary Straightforward: The Truth About Addiction, and contributed my own recovery story to Waking Up Happy: A Handbook of Change with Memoirs of Recovery and Hope.
